Nickel Alloy Introduction
Nickel alloy is an alloy composed of nickel based with other elements. Nickel has good mechanical, physical and chemical properties, and the addition of suitable elements can improve its oxidation resistance, corrosion resistance, high temperature strength and improve certain physical properties.
Classification and characteristics of nickel-based alloy steel
Nickel-based alloys are a class of alloys with high strength and a certain resistance to corrosion and other comprehensive properties at high temperatures from 650 to 1000℃. According to the main properties are subdivided into nickel-based high-temperature alloys, nickel-based corrosion-resistant alloys, nickel-based wear-resistant alloys, nickel-based precision alloys and nickel-based shape memory alloys, etc.
1、Nickel-based high-temperature alloys
The main alloying elements are chromium, tungsten, molybdenum, cobalt, aluminum, titanium, boron, zirconium and so on. Among them, chromium plays an antioxidant and anti-corrosion role, other elements play a strengthening role. In 650 ~ 1000 ℃ high temperature has high strength and oxidation resistance, gas corrosion resistance, is the most widely used in high temperature alloys, high temperature strength of the highest class of alloy. Mainly concentrated in the manufacture of aircraft engine blades and rocket engines, nuclear reactors, energy conversion equipment on the high-temperature parts.
2, nickel-based corrosion-resistant alloys
The main alloy elements are copper, chromium, molybdenum. Has a good overall performance, can be resistant to a variety of acid corrosion and stress corrosion. The earliest application is nickel-copper alloy, also known as Monel alloy; in addition, there are nickel-chromium alloy, nickel-molybdenum alloy, nickel-chromium-molybdenum alloy, etc.. Used in the manufacture of various corrosion-resistant parts.
3、Nickel-based wear-resistant alloys
The main alloy elements are chromium, molybdenum, tungsten, also contains a small amount of niobium, tantalum and indium. In addition to wear resistance, its oxidation resistance, corrosion resistance, welding performance is also good. Wear-resistant parts can be manufactured, but also as a cladding material, by overlay welding and spraying process will be clad in other substrate material surface.
4、Nickel-based precision alloys
Including nickel-based soft magnetic alloy, nickel-based precision resistance alloy and nickel-based electric heating alloy. The most commonly used soft magnetic alloy is about 80% nickel content BoMo alloy, its maximum permeability and starting permeability is high, low coercive force, is an important core material in the electronics industry. The main alloying elements of nickel-based precision resistance alloys are chromium, aluminum and copper. This alloy has high resistivity, low resistivity temperature coefficient and good corrosion resistance and is used to make resistors. Nickel-based electric heating alloy is a nickel alloy containing 20% chromium, with good oxidation resistance, corrosion resistance, can be used for a long time at a temperature of 1000 ~ 1100 ℃.
5、Nickel-based shape memory alloy
Nickel alloy containing titanium 50(at)%. Its return temperature is 70 ℃, shape memory effect is good. A small change in the proportion of nickel and titanium components, can make the return temperature in the range of 30 ~ 100 ℃ change. It is mostly used in the manufacture of self-opening structural parts used on spacecraft, self-exciting fasteners for the aerospace industry, and artificial heart motors used in biomedicine.
Applications of nickel-based alloy steel
Nickel-based alloy industry development level is in a steady upward trend, different composition, different performance of nickel-based alloys with industrial development has gained increasingly widespread applications, its main application areas are
1、Marine: marine structures for sea environment, seawater desalination, seawater aquaculture, seawater heat exchange, etc.
